CURRICULUM VITAE

Maria K. Pasioti MD, PhD

Pediatric and Adult Allergist

PhD from the University of Athens

My 1st contact with the Medical Science

I was born in Athens, to a bookseller father and a doctor mother, to whom I owe, among other things, my love for reading and medicine, respectively. Shortly before I started elementary school, we moved to Atalanti, Phthiotis, where I spent my school years, completing my secondary education with honors and a grade of 19/20.

I returned to Athens to study Medicine at the University of Athens. That's where I first came into contact with Allergology and Clinical Immunology, a wonderful and mysterious world that captivated me from the very first moment. I graduated in 2004 with a grade of “Very Good”, and after completing my field service in the beautiful town of Oreoi, in Northern Evia (2004-2005), I was trained in Pediatrics at the Pediatric Clinics of the General Hospital of Lamia (2006-2007) and the General Hospital of Veria (2008-2009).

Specialization in Allergology

While waiting to start my specialization training and wanting to make the most of my time, I joined the Research Center for Allergology and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens (2008-2013), where, as a research associate, I was involved in basic research, participating in European research programs on childhood allergic asthma and food allergy. At the same time, I was working as a telephone center doctor coordinator at the home medical services company “SOS Doctors” (2011-2012).

Subsequently, I specialized in Allergology at the Allergology Department of the “Laiko” General Hospital (2013-2017), where I was trained in the identification and treatment of all allergic conditions in adults and children. In addition to full participation in all Department activities, I participated in clinical protocols related to the treatment of Chronic Urticaria and Asthma in adults. In 2016, I received, after successfully passing the respective examinations, a “Certification of Excellence” from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and in 2017, I obtained the title of Allergy Specialist.

Doctoral Dissertation and Scholarships

After completing my specialization training, I completed a doctoral dissertation at the Allergy Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens (2018-2024) having as subject “A comparative study of nut introduction protocols in the diet of patients with nut allergy”, for which I received scholarships from the Hellenic Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (HSACI) and from the Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) scholarship program for doctoral candidates at Greek universities. I was awarded a doctorate from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with an Honorary Grade.

Allergy Clinic and Collaborations with other Clinics

Since 2018, I have been operating a private clinic in downtown Athens, where I examine children and adults by appointment who are seeking solutions to their allergy problems. At the same time, I continue my collaboration as a scientific associate with the Allergy Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, actively participating in the training of students and residents, and in European and Panhellenic Allergy Conferences, with more than 10 lectures after invitation and more than 30 scientific papers and oral presentations, many of which have received awards.
